The article "Skills Ecosystem Misalignment in Emerging Technology Sectors" by Iveta Orbánová and Natasa Urbancikova has been published in the journal Quality Innovation Prosperity. The publication builds on findings presented in the INVESTech WP4 Report on identified skill gaps in advanced technology sectors. It explores the mismatch between educational provision and industry demand in emerging technology sectors and examines why education providers and employers continue to face challenges in developing the hybrid skills needed for the digital transition. The article points to persistent shortages in both technical and transversal skills, as well as a disconnect between academic learning and practical industry needs, as technologies evolve much faster than education systems can adapt. Addressing these challenges requires closer collaboration between education and industry, supported by Regional Centres of Vocational Excellence (CoVEs) and industry-validated micro-credentials.
