The INVESTech i-Lab has officially opened at Klaipėda Science and Technology Park, marking an important step in fostering innovation, skills development, and closer cooperation between academia and the business sector in Western Lithuania. The i-Lab is a dedicated collaborative and learning space designed to support the development of ICT competencies and address the growing demand for skilled professionals. It brings together representatives from education and industry to work on real-world challenges, exchange knowledge, and co-create innovative solutions. The concept of the i-Lab is based on a structured approach that combines a collaboration-oriented physical environment, digital tools, and professional facilitation. The space is designed to support interactive sessions, ideation processes, and structured discussions, enabling participants to effectively generate and develop ideas. The i-Lab will host a range of activities, including expert consultations, innovation events, hackathons, summer academies, and upskilling and reskilling programmes validated through micro-credentials. These activities aim to provide flexible, practice-oriented learning opportunities aligned with the evolving needs of the labour market. The i-Lab is part of the EU-funded INVESTech (Innovation Vocational Excellence in Tech) project, which aims to strengthen vocational education and training, foster innovation, and enhance collaboration between education providers, industry, and other stakeholders. The project supports the development of Centres of Vocational Excellence (CoVE) in five European regions, including Klaipėda in Lithuania. In Lithuania, the initiative is implemented in partnership with Klaipėda State University of Applied Sciences and the Klaipėda Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Crafts. The launch of the i-Lab represents a significant step towards building a stronger innovation ecosystem in Western Lithuania, supporting skills development, and enabling solutions that respond to real market needs.
