On September 1, 2007, on the basis of the charter issued by the Ministry of Education of the Slovak Republic under the number CD – 2007 – 13701/280651:098/ZSŠ, the Joint Secondary School was established by merging five secondary schools in Michalovci. • High School of Electrical Engineering, Partizánska 1, Michalovce • Secondary vocational school for mechanical engineering, Močarianska 1, Michalovce • Secondary vocational school for construction, Partizánska 23, Michalovce • Secondary industrial school, Ľ. Štúra 26, Michalovce • Secondary Vocational School, Kapušianska 6, Michalovce The reason for its establishment was to prevent the disappearance of vocational education in the Zemplín region (east of the Slovak Republic) due to the low population and little interest in technical fields. From September 1, 2008, it was renamed to Secondary Vocational School. As of January 1, 2009, the name of the school was changed to Technical Secondary School, Partizánska 1, Michalovce. The main mission of the Secondary Vocational Technical School in Michalovce (hereinafter referred to as SOSTMI) is the provision of education to pupils, graduates of the 9-year primary school. Studying at the school can be carried out in the following directions: • informatics, • electrical engineering, • mechanical engineering, • construction industry, • •transportation. For these fields, the school has complex material, technical and personnel conditions. The school provides education in study and teaching fields. Pupils can also continue in additional studies. The school prepares technical personnel for companies in Michalovce and the Zemplín region, as well as for further studies at colleges and universities. The success rate of application in practice or in further education, especially among graduates of the study fields, is very good. As part of cooperation and establishing partnerships, the school is a member of the Slovak Chamber of Commerce and Industry, with which it closely cooperates mainly in the field of completing studies. On October 23, 2009, the Vocational Training Center for Automation, Informatics and Electrical Engineering was opened at the Secondary Vocational Technical School in Michalovce at Partizánska Street 1. One of the main tasks of the Center is to provide education not only for the students of the technical secondary school, but also for the students of other schools and employers from the region. The educational process at the school is ensured by a professional teaching staff. Pedagogical staff in every department follow new trends and introduce them into teaching. The school's aim is to become the largest and most universal technical secondary vocational school in the Zemplín region, which can adapt to the demands of the labor market in a wide range of fields and areas of education. It is able to adapt to the labor market through close cooperation with the business sphere in the region, region and the whole of Slovakia.
