InvesTECH i-Lab Cyprus
The InvesTECH i-Lab at Emphasys Centre in Nicosia is an inclusive innovation space that supports practical, technology-enhanced learning in Vocational Education and Training. Equipped with 3D printers, VR headsets, microcontrollers, digital collaboration tools and multimedia facilities, it enables learners, educators and local stakeholders to experiment, develop digital skills and transform ideas into practical solutions.
About Our Laboratory
The InvesTECH i-Lab at Emphasys Centre in Nicosia, Cyprus, is a modern and flexible learning environment designed to strengthen innovation, creativity and digital skills within Vocational Education and Training. It provides VET learners, educators, trainers and other professionals with opportunities to explore emerging technologies through practical, project-based activities that connect education with current labour-market needs.
The i-Lab consists of three dedicated areas: a STEAM Lab for experimentation and prototyping, a fully equipped conference room for training, meetings and hybrid activities, and a soundproof recording studio for creating podcasts, videos and other digital content. Its equipment includes 3D printers and a 3D scanner, VR headsets, Arduino and Raspberry Pi kits, drones, laptops and tablets, interactive screens, graphic tablets, cameras and videoconferencing tools. Movable furniture and creative materials also allow the space to be adapted for workshops, teamwork, brainstorming and collaborative problem-solving.
Through the i-Lab, participants can develop practical experience in areas such as coding, electronics, digital fabrication, virtual reality, multimedia production and collaborative design. Teachers and trainers can also test innovative teaching approaches and create more interactive and engaging learning experiences. Its hybrid-learning facilities make activities accessible to participants joining remotely and encourage collaboration with schools, businesses, youth organisations and community groups.
Inclusiveness is a central element of the i-Lab. The space aims to improve access to modern technologies for learners from different backgrounds, including people with fewer opportunities and those from rural or under-resourced areas. - The InvesTECH i-Lab is equipped with 3D printers and a portable 3D scanner, VR headsets, Arduino and Raspberry Pi kits, drones, laptops, tablets, interactive screens and multimedia equipment. It also includes cameras, microphones, lighting, videoconferencing tools and a fully equipped recording studio, supporting prototyping, digital creation and hands-on learning.
Software
- The InvesTECH i-Lab uses a versatile technology stack that supports digital collaboration, hybrid learning, creative design and practical experimentation. It includes platforms such as Miro and Zoom, along with software for 3D design and printing, programming, virtual reality, multimedia editing and digital content creation. These tools enable learners and educators to collaborate, develop prototypes and build practical digital skills.
